Ken´s TC FD project
First update!
So I didn't like the purple that came with the kit so I wanted to strip it. I ran some test with some strong degreaser but it didn't go so well.
The first test was with an alloy piece I had left over. Sat it in the degreaser for 40 mins! and all it did was fade it. Then I thought I'd give the tc-fd alloy a go. After 15 mins, not a chance in color.

You can see where it was taking the blue off.

Here is a picture of after I ran the second test. 15 mins in the same stuff. Notice the pulley holders sitting next to each other. You can't even tell which one was the one I tested on. Didn't bother with pics for the test 2. You get the idea.

Since I didn't have stronger heavy duty degreaser on hand, I started on the chassis. I put the film on the bottom like I did my t2.

Trimmed

The next day I bought the degreaser home. I did the final test and it works! The pieces came out really black and rough. All I had to do was polish the surface. Which is a PITA! I kinda changed my mind on the stripping but I already started so much finish now.

The FIRST batch of alloy is done and polished. Took me about an hour or so to do these lot.

I'll strip the alloy as I build the car. It'll be easier to keep track of them.

Notice that the silver isn't really shiny. It's more of a dull shiny. In the back of my head I want to get it reanodized but in different color.

Muhahaha almost done. Just need to get my post set up, waiting for my front gear diff from hk, rims are being build, and need to find a Hotwire. Pics! Don't mind the antenna tube, I burnt it but I'll go get a new one soon.
